Highlight Notice - Evidence Synthesis
The NIHR Public Health Research (PHR) programme wishes to commission a number of evidence synthesis research projects in order to enhance the evidence base required to support the new public health system. The research should be designed to inform public health decision-makers in the UK, and to identify knowledge gaps amenable to future primary research.
The PHR programme focuses on the evaluation of public health interventions in non NHS settings, with an interest in cost-effectiveness. Research proposals should be within the overall remit of the PHR programme but may evaluate any intervention (or related set of interventions) within that remit.
Proposals may contain elements of literature review and economic modelling (with value of information analysis if appropriate), with health or health economic related outcomes.
Eligibility for the Call
Studies should meet these criteria:
• Participants: Adults and/or children in whom the intervention might be of value.
• Interventions: Public health interventions. The PHR programme is particularly interested in research which may lead to a reduction in health inequalities.
• Setting: Any non NHS setting e.g. the wider community.
• Study Design: Evidence synthesis, which may incorporate modelling.
• Outcomes: Eligible studies should have health related outcomes. Cost effectiveness should be assessed if possible.
Assessment Dates:
The next researcher-led outline call closing date is 2 April 2012, by 1pm
However, applicants can submit outline proposals to the researcher-led workstream at any time during the year, with three cut-off dates when applications will be considered by Programme Advisory Board (PAB).
