8.1 How will investigators be supported during their study?
The Public Health Research programme will provide active support to ensure that the research projects which it funds are successful in producing high quality results in a timely fashion.  Communication will be maintained with research teams by informal contact (email, telephone calls) and regular teleconference and formal reports (at least 6-monthly).  Three members of each project team will also be invited to attend a ‘Welcome Meeting’ close to the time the project is due to start.

8.2 What type of contract and monitoring will be used?
The Programme Director will recommend funding decisions to the Director General for Research and Development and a standard NIHR contract will be used. Current standard NIHR contracts are listed below, although please note that they are expected to be subject to minor changes over the next 6 months.
